In this raw and necessary conversation, Kitty Stryker joins Dustin to unpack one of the most uncomfortable and essential truths of intimacy: consent is rarely simple. Known for coining the term “consent culture,” Stryker brings her anarchist sensibility and deep compassion to the complexities of power, communication, and repair. Together, they explore how real consent exists in the grey areas where desire and fear, intention and harm, can coexist.

Through questions of accountability and restorative justice, Kitty examines what happens when boundaries are crossed and healing becomes a shared, imperfect process. She challenges the fantasy of being “fully consent-literate,” arguing instead for ongoing negotiation, self-awareness, and the courage to face our own capacity for harm. Repair, she reminds us, isn’t about perfection; it is about presence, listening, and the willingness to stay in the wreckage long enough to rebuild trust.

🎙️ Meet Our Guest

Kitty Stryker (she/her) is one of the kinksters who coined the term "consent culture", as well as being an anarchist activist, queer femme, and leftist doomsday prepper located in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is a freelance writer with bylines at Teen Vogue, Vice, Rolling Stone and more, who enjoys playing TTRPGs in her free time (usually as an arcane trickster). Kitty's books include "Ask: Building Consent Culture", "Ask Yourself: The Consent Culture Workbook", "Say More: Consent Conversations for Teens", and most recently, "Love Rebels: How I Learned to Burn It Down Without Burning Out."
